A childcare centre in Adelaide was forced to be evacuated, after two women were overcome by mysterious fumes.

Just before 1pm on Friday, emergency services were called to Little Shining Stars Early Learning Centre in Klemzig, to reports of a pungent smell.

Two women said they felt dizzy and sick after smelling the sickening odour.

38 children and 12 staff members were evacuated from the centre, while fire crews investigated.

The women were treated at the scene, however the source of the smell could not be found.
