Four of the occupants managed to escape the vehicles and were found clinging to trees to avoid the dangerous currents.
Police, along with local SES and Rural Fire Services were able to rescue the people with assistance from a flood boat and paramedics.
They were transported to Dubbo Hospital.
A five-year-old child from one of the vehicles has not yet been accounted for, according to police.
The two vehicles remain submerged in floodwaters, where there has been heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours.
Roads in the area remain closed due to flooding, making access to McGrane Way difficult.
Police will remain at the scene and wait until they can access the vehicles.
