KOTOR 2 devs advise players to use cheats to bypass Switch ending glitch

0 1

Aspyr has advised players to use KOTOR 2’s cheats menu in order to avoid an error that won’t let some people reach the ending on Nintendo Switch.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic hit Nintendo’s hybrid console in 2021; its much-beloved sequel migrated to the platform earlier this month.

While the launch proved worthy of celebration in some respects, many players encountered game-breaking bugs in KOTOR 2 that more or less ruin the experience.

One such glitch results in the game crashing when users land on the planet Onderon, effectively rendering the KOTOR 2 ending unplayable.

Aspyr advises workaround for KOTOR 2 ending bug on Switch

A strange workaround for an equally strange error.

On the official Aspyr Support page, the developer tells players of a temporary solution to the crashing issue that occurs in KOTOR 2 after the Basilisk Crash cutscene.

The suggested workaround involves warping past the crashing point by relying on the in-game cheats menu. According to the support page, players should follow these steps: “Triple click the left thumbstick, open the cheats menu, and select warp.

“We recommend warping to a random location while on the party selection screen before the cutscene, otherwise you’ll be going solo after warping. Afterwards, follow the same steps above to warp to OND504. Make sure not to head to the merchant quarter, as your game will crash.”

Fortunately, the team at Aspyr is actively investigating the issue. A permanent solution remains out of reach at present, yet players can expect Nintendo Switch’s KOTOR 2 ending woes to be addressed in the next patch.

At the time of writing, Aspyr has yet to specify when exactly the next KOTOR 2 update will go live.

But, hopefully, the cheat-based workaround allows fans to experience the sequel’s final act in all of its glory.
