A worker at a nearby business said the death was “very tragic”.

“They’re the best neighbours you could ask for,” he said.

“They help us out all the time … we share a beer with them at Christmas.”

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from FRNSW labelled the incident an “absolute tragedy”.

“It’s a true tragedy when you go to work during the day, expecting to go home,” he said

“(It’s) an absolutely devastating day for everyone involved.

“It’s a very sombre mood, which is understandable..”

Dewberry added workers at the site appeared to be “pretty close”.

“These are things you don’t forget,” he said.

“You take it with you for the rest of your life, so hopefully their wellbeing can be looked after.”

The incident has been referred to SafeWork NSW.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
