Byron Bay boy survives python snake bite in backyard pool

A five-year-old boy has survived a terrifying snake attack in Byron Bay.

The boy was walking on the edge of the pool at his home when a 3m python is believed to have come from the garden and bit into his leg.

The boy and the snake ended up in the pool, with his father saying the snake quickly wrapped itself around the boy’s leg.

His 76-year-old grandfather jumped into the pool to save him.

He was able to get the boy out of the pool, before the boy’s father removed the snake from his leg.
