SEVERE thunderstorms and hail expected NOW in KZN
THE LEVEL 2 SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS AND HAILS ARE EXPECTED ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON
Weather warnings were issued for most of South Africa on Sunday afternoon.
The SAWS warned that damage to infrastructure, settlements, property, vehicles, communication disruption and loss of agricultural production is possible.

THESE AREAS IN KWAZULU-NATAL WILL BE AFFECTED:
- eMadlangeni / Utrecht
- Inkosi Langalibalele – Escourt / Escourt
- Umvoti / Greytown
- Okhahlamba / Royal National Park
- uMshwathi / New Hanover
- Dr N. Dlamini-Zuma – Underberg / Underberg
- Ubuhlebezwe / Ixopo
- Ray Nkonyeni / Paddock / Margate
- Greater Kokstad / Kokstad
- The Msunduzi / Pietermaritzburg
The level 2 weather warning is expected from midday until midnight on Sunday.
It furthermore advised the public to stay indoors and away from metal objects if possible.
“Do not seek shelter under trees or tall objects. Stay away from fishing or playing golf, as both golf clubs and fishing rods are good conductors of electricity. Be aware that any combination of hail, strong winds and/or heavy downpours can accompany the storms. Keep an eye on the SAWS website for any updates regarding severe thunderstorm development and movement.”
