Best lash keratin product: Amy Jean’s latest technology is a god-send for lashes and eyebrows

When God (or more likely, genetics) gifted me thick eyebrows and fluffy eyelashes it might have been nice for the excessive hair growth to end there.

But sadly the money I spend on razors a month confirms that in fact it’s not all of your hopes and dreams coming true to be given ample facial hair.

That is, until you go and get a lash lift.

For the uninitiated, like myself, a traditional lash lift involves treating the eyelashes at the root so they maintain a curl — much like a perm would — that lasts between eight to 10 weeks.

It’s a treatment that’s perfect for women who who don’t like the high maintenance factor of lash extensions but still want their lashes to flick upwards towards the brow line.

I visited the incredibly knowledgeable eyelash and eyebrow specialist Amy Jean to have my lashes lifted in a 60 minute session and by the end I actually couldn’t believe how much more awake I looked and how much fresher I felt.

But the best part wasn’t even the lash lift — although don’t get me wrong it was superb. It’s the $52 lash product the beauty connoisseur has released to help those who regularly tamper with their lashes and brows.

Last month Amy launched the Lash and Brow Keratin Essence to market and it is an absolute game-changer in more ways than one.

The clear formulation looks much like a supercharged mascara product but instead of providing colour it has been designed to rejuvenate, fortify and revive lashes and brows, supporting the overall condition of lashes in a keratin-enriched lacquer.

Originally introduced as the “Keratin Strengthening Solution” in 2017, Amy has refined the initial formula and crafted new packaging to reflect the brand’s philosophy of innovation and signature ultra-luxe aesthetic.

Lashes are prone to getting a little bit dry after a lash lift but with a few swipes of this wand each day I’ve had no issues keeping every one of my now lengthened and curled hairs in place.

What’s more, I actually use the Essence as a brow shape and setter on the days I’m wanting a quick fix to their unruliness.

I often have the issue of mascara fallout by the end of the day so I’ll be continuing my lash lifts and using Amy Jean’s Essence to make the most of the hairs I’ve got.

If you haven’t dabbled with Amy Jean’s products yet, you can find them at Sephora and on Adore Beauty.
