Dozens injured as Sydney to Auckland LATAM Airlines flight rocked by ‘technical’ issue

Dozens of passengers and crew have been injured after a technical issue sparked chaos on a Sydney to Auckland flight on Monday.

Fifty people were treated at Auckland Airport when flight LA800 reportedly experienced a sudden drop in altitude over the Tasman.

It is understood 13 people are currently being treated in a New Zealand hospital, and one patient is in a serious condition. The rest suffered only minor injuries.

Chilean airline LATAM blamed a technical problem with the plane that caused a “strong movement”.
