Euro 2024 squads set to be expanded to 26 players

England and Scotland will be able to select squads of 26 players at Euro 2024 after a Uefa vote on Monday.

Squad sizes were expected to return to the standard 23 after being increased to 26 in 2021 due to Covid-19, but scheduling pressure and fitness concerns look to have made the increased options a permanent change, according to Sky Sports.

This news will come as a massive boost to both Gareth Southgate and Steve Clarke, with both managers suffering from injury crises as it stands.

England will probably be particularly significant beneficiaries due to the current depth of the domestic talent pool.

An official announcement from Uefa of the change is expected as early as this week.
