Five-year-old boy dies following crash with truck in St Marys, Sydney

A five-year-old boy has died in hospital after the car he was a passenger in crashed into a parked truck in western Sydney.

The child and his mother were travelling in a Hyundai hatchback that hit a truck and trailer on Christie St in St Marys about 3.20am on Friday.

Some locals called the stretch of road a “death trap” for motorists driving at night, saying poor visibility made it more likely drivers would be involved in accidents with parked trucks.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash and will prepare a report for the coroner.
