Fox News host Jesse Watters vowed to tell viewers that President Joe Biden won the election if he prevails in November — but that he’ll need to see “evidence” of no “shenanigans.”
Watters spoke with The Hollywood Reporter this week to promote his New York Times best-seller Get It Together, and he was asked if he will “fact check” people saying the election is “rigged” if Biden wins in November.
“I would have to see evidence if there are any shenanigans,” Watters said.
If there are “no shenanigans,” the Fox News host added, then “fair is fair.”
“If Biden wins fair and square I’ll tell my viewers he won fair and square,” Watters said.
Fox News reached a $780 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems last year after the company filed a complaint accusing Fox of airing false claims about the 2020 presidential election and their voting machines. Those claims, which were pushed by Trump and his supporters, made up the basis for the conspiracy theory that the election was stolen.
Watters made headlines recently for being at the center of one of the former president’s gag order violations, something that hasn’t yet been ruled on by Judge Juan Merchan, who is presiding over Trump’s hush money trial in Manhattan. Trump quoted Watters in a Truth Social post.
Watters told THR he was unsure if Trump “technically” violated his gag order. He also said the former president “occasionally” calls him.
“He’s very flattering like all politicians are,” Watters said about the calls. “It’s usually small talk.”
