Lionsgate TV Signs Production Head Gary Goodman To New Multi-Year Deal

Lionsgate Television has signed Gary Goodman to a new multi-year deal to continue as EVP of Worldwide Production, heading up production of the studio’s slate of premium scripted series as well as its East Coast television production facilities in Yonkers, NY, Atlanta, Georgia and opening soon in Newark, New Jersey.

Goodman is a 17-year Lionsgate veteran, serving as head of TV production on shows including AMC’s Mad Men, Netflix’s Orange is the New Black, Weeds and Nurse Jackie for Showtime, ABC/CMT’s Nashville and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist for NBC, to name a few. Current projects include: BMF, P-Valley and The Serpent Queen for Starz, Mythic Quest, Acapulco and Manhunt for Apple TV+ and the recent John Wick prequel The Continental for Peacock and Amazon Prime.

Goodman has overseen multiple installments of the Power franchise and up next will steer production on the recently announced prequel Origins, which follows the early years of the beloved duo of Ghost and Tommy’s (played by Omari Hardwick and Joseph Sikora in the OG series). Also on his plate: the Jon Cryer comedy Extended Family for Peacock, the Seth Rogen half-hour comedy The Studio for Apple TV+, The Hunting Wives and the re-imagining of the original hit series Spartacus for Starz. Other upcoming series include the comedy Dinks from Marta Kauffman, which has just been ordered to pilot at Amazon MGM Studios.

“Gary’s production leadership has been a vital part of our success for nearly 20 years, successfully guiding us through the pandemic and last year’s double strikes with minimum interruption and down time,” said Lionsgate Television Group Chair & Chief Creative Officer Kevin Beggs and Vice Chairman Sandra Stern in a joint statement. “He has been a key driver in expanding our production footprint with new studio facilities and will continue to be a valuable member of our television leadership team and a source of innovative production expertise moving forward.”

Lionsgate Television currently has around 20 premium scripted series in various stages of production— including several projects from its December 2023 acquisition of eOne—including 12 that are in their third seasons or later like ABC’s The Rookie and the Starz drama prequel Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
