maruti suzuki: 10 Maruti Suzuki models among India’s 25 top-selling passenger vehicles

Maruti Suzuki had 10 of its models among India’s 25 top-selling passenger vehicles in April-November, with hatchbacks Swift, Wagon R and Baleno leading the charts.

Sport utility vehicles with their commanding road presence and sporty look may have caught the fancy of the young, aspiring Indian automobile buyer, but hatchbacks still seem to be drawing in steady numbers for automakers. Three small cars from market leader Maruti Suzuki – Swift, Wagon R and Baleno –topped the sales chart in the first eight months of this fiscal year.

Of the 25 volume drivers in the passenger vehicle segment, however, utility vehicles rule the roost with 15 models. The remaining 10 were premium hatchbacks, sedans and vans.

Maruti Suzuki had the largest number of models on the list at 10, while the next three — Hyundai Motor India, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra – each had four. The remaining three were from Kia India.SEGMENT MODEL SALES (for April-Nov)1.Hatch – Maruti Suzuki Swift – 139,2152.Hatch – Maruti Suzuki Wagon R – 138,063
