Italian fashion label Missoni, renowned for its colourful zigzag knitwear, has announced the acquisition of Tricotex, a textile company specialising in Raschel knitwear. The company is based in Gallarate, north of Milan, and supplies a number of luxury fashion houses. The amount of the transaction has not been disclosed.

For the Italian company, this move enables it to “maintain direct control over its value chain, guaranteeing the transparency and traceability of materials and manufacturing processes,” says the company in a brief press release. It is also, according to the company, helping to preserve “the know-how of a leading Italian manufacturer of fine yarns,” by using historic Caperdoni knitting machines.

Having celebrated its 70th anniversary last year, Missoni was targeting sales of 125 million euros for 2023, compared with 115 million generated in 2022, according to Reuters. The company, whose creative director is Filippo Grazioli, is 59% owned by the founding family and 41% by Italian investment fund FSI. The press agency reported at the end of last year that the Missoni family had commissioned Rothschild to study a potential sale of its activities.
