Mr Porter launches handcrafted edit and campaign

YNAP’s Mr Porter has unveiled a new Made with Craft campaign “featuring a curated edit of seasonal products and exclusive capsule collections celebrating craftsmanship and artisanal skills”.

The luxury menswear e-tailer said the exclusive styles come from nine global brands that are “championing handmade qualities within its products, each providing their own unique point-of-view, craftsmanship sensibility or manufacturing technique that sets it apart”. 

Hand-crafted is a clear way for high-end e-tailers to differentiate themselves from those lower down the price scale while also offering unique properties and feeding into the slow fashion movement.

The brands taking part include A Kind of Guise, Corridor, Kardo, Kartik Research, Jacques Marie Mage, Story Mfg, Stòffa, SSAM and The Elder Statesman.

In total, the edit adds up to more than 70 styles spanning ready-to-wear, accessories, jewellery and homewares, with artisan skills such as embroidery and embellishment, hand-woven and hand-dyed fabrics.

The accessories offer includes 16 styles from Jacques Marie Mage. There are seven limited-edition spectacles and nine jewellery pieces from its The Last Frontier collection, for which Mr Porter is the exclusive online retail partner. The eyewear is handmade in Japan and Italy and features intricate, hand-beaded temple sleeves.

And the limited-edition hand-crafted jewellery is new for the brand. We’re told it “honours the rich history of silversmithing and lapidary arts in the American Southwest with each piece taking over 18 months to complete”.

Each item sits within the site’s Consciously Crafted edit, a curated assortment of brands and products.

It all launched on Monday along with dedicated editorial and social content across its global platforms, including online magazine The Journal and its Instagram channel.
