Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in Campbelltown, Sydney

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Sydney’s west overnight.

The man, believed to be an 80-year-old, was struck on Oxley St, Campbelltown about 11.15pm Thursday.

He could not be saved by paramedics and died at the scene.

Police said the man is yet to be formally identified.

The 26-year-old male driver was not injured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
