Shamed ex-Health Sec Michael Matheson out on official business— despite not being ‘well enough’ to attend parliament

SHAMED ex-Health Secretary Michael Matheson was out and about on official business this week — despite the SNP claiming he’s not well enough to attend parliament.

The Scottish Tories were asked by officials on behalf of the Scottish Government’s business manager on Tuesday if they could “pair” with Mr Matheson for votes this week and possibly next.

They were told that Mr Matheson was “unwell and unable to work”, but the party declined the request.

Despite his absence from parliament, Mr Matheson was well enough on Wednesday to attend an event hosted by the Powering Futures organisation, based in his Falkirk constituency.

Mr Matheson has not been at Holyrood since quitting as Health Secretary on February 8 ahead of a parliamentary investigation into the scandal publishing its findings.

It comes after it was revealed the disgraced ex-Health Secretary would reveal a tax-free £12,700 golden goodbye.

The severance pay will comfortably cover the £11,000 iPad raoming charges he eventually paid back following taxpayer anger about the bill racked up on a family holiday to Morocco.

The perk emerged after the scandal-hit ex Health Secretary finally quit over his expenses shame.

But Mr Matheson has given no indication he is set to turn down the severance cash, paid under parly rules for any minister leaving government after serving for more than 90 days.
