“When officers arrived on scene, two persons were found deceased inside the house,” police said on Monday. “The investigation is still in its initial stages.”

Celine-Marie and Harold Owens were identified on Wednesday as the victims with police saying, “residents in the area of where this occurred are a close-knit community and have been helpful and co-operative with detectives.”

An unnamed neighbour told CHCH on Wednesday that they had known the Owens for more than 10 years, describing them as a loving and caring couple.

“They are incredibly generous and sweet and kind; they are wonderful people,” the neighbour told CHCH. “It feels awful, it feels out of place and grotesque.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact investigators at 905-688-4111, Option 3, Ext. 1009462. Anonymous information can be sent to Crime Stoppers of Niagara online or by calling 1-800-222-8477.
