The moment Luke Bryan drops to the ground during performance in Vancouver

The moment a US country singer and American Idol judge stacks it on stage has gone viral on social media, with the international star taking the blunder in his stride.

Luke Bryan was performing at the Coast City Country festival in the Canadian city of Vancouver on Saturday night local time when he slipped on stage, falling flat on his back, microphone still in hand.

Although the crowd appeared slightly panicked at first, the 47-year-old put their minds at ease when he quickly sat up and started laughing.

In a viral video posted to X, the singer can be seen looking down and picking up a mobile phone from the floor of the stage, which appeared to be the cause of his fall.

“Hold up. Did anybody get that?,” Bryan can be heard asking the crowd, while a flurry of phones is held in the air filming his every move.

He hands the mobile phone back to its owner in the audience, cracking a joke about suing him over the big slip.

“It’s OK. Hey, my lawyer will be calling,” Bryan says.

Keen to watch the video of himself, he then grabs another phone from the audience, asking his production crew to zoom in on the phone so everyone could watch it on the big screen.

“I gotta see it,” he says.

“This is viral alright, this is viral.”

And Bryan was right.

The video, posted to X, has so far been seen 4.5 million times and liked by 30,000 people.

Many commented on how gracefully the American Music Award singer handled the situation.

“Great example to us all as how to handle our stumbles with grace and even humour,” one person said.

“What a refreshing way to act. He actually makes fun of himself for the fall. This shows he doesn’t take himself so seriously the way that countless musicians do,” another said.

Bryan has sold more than 75 million records and has been a judge on American Idol since 2018.
