Trump Blasts Biden After Attending Slain Officer’s Wake

Donald Trump claimed President Joe Biden’s “base” won’t let him support police, and that’s why he did not attend the wake of slain NYPD officer Jonathan Diller.

Diller, 31, was shot and killed in Queens during a traffic stop. He leaves behind a wife and son. A two-day wake began on Thursday, and the former president attended. In a Fox News interview on the same day, Trump told Brian Kilmeade, “This country is going to hell” and knocked Biden for attending a New York fundraiser with former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton on the same day as the wake.

“I think that politically he can’t support the police. I think he’s also making a mistake, but I think politically, his base won’t let him support the police,” Trump said. “And I support the police, I would say at the highest level of any president by far, maybe double or triple. And they knew that. That’s why when I walked into that funeral parlor, it was — it was like love. It was just — they want to shy away it. They didn’t even call the family. They could have called. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know even a call would be, perhaps — I’m not sure they would take his call.”

Kilmeade reported from Massapequa, where he’s from, that 100,000 police were in attendance for Diller’s funeral. The former president said he was asked to attend the wake and he applauded the first responders who attended.

“When I was leaving, we paid our respects to the family, the most magnificent, beautiful wife, the grandmother, and the mother, and everybody, everybody is there but Jonathan, and what a scene, but when I was leaving, we’re driving down the road and it felt like we were driving for miles and there were men and women in blue,” he said. “They were going for such a period, I said, ‘That’s a lot of people.’ It was a long blue line.”
