Will Cain, co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend, claimed Saturday that Progressives liked Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) better when he was “incapacitated” from a stroke and couldn’t fully express his views.
Fetterman, a Democrat, appeared on Special Report with Bret Baier Friday where he reiterated that he didn’t consider himself a Progressive.
“I know that some people are caught by surprise, and even when I just said, you know, in passing, that I’m not a Progressive. And I’ve been saying that for years, actually,” Fetterman said.
Will Cain commended Fetterman for his impressive recovery from the near-fatal stroke in 2023 that left him with speech and motor function disabilities.
“First of all, what an inspiring progression in his recovery. He can clearly speak, and he could not clearly speak some six months ago. And, so, just as an individual, as a human, we should all celebrate his ability to recover from something like a stroke,” Cain said, continuing:
Secondarily, I would say, Democrats liked him better when he couldn’t speak. They liked him better when he was — and, look, he was made fun of by many of us. And, he was disabled. He could not articulate his thoughts. He couldn’t read. And that’s when he was appreciated by Progressives, when he was mocked for being, as it was said, like a vegetable. They liked him incapacitated, and a blank slate to project upon their most far-left agenda items.
But, now, he’s alert, and recovered, and articulate, and independent. Most importantly, independent. He’s become persona non grata. He has his own thoughts and he should be respected for that.
I will say, thirdly, finally, if you’re on the Right, he’s still a Democrat. Just to be clear, he’s still a Democrat. He called Rand Paul a “peckerhead” because he wanted to get in the way of the huge budgeting bills. But, Ok, fine, he’s a Democrat. I just respect that he’s thinking, and he’s independent.
